Pope Francis wrapped up his five day visit to South Korea with a Mass for peace and reconciliation in Seoul's Myeongdong Cathedral.

The Pope challenged Koreans from the North and the South to reject the "mindset of suspicion and confrontation" that cloud their relations and instead find new ways to forge peace on the war-divided peninsula.

"All Koreans are brothers and sisters, members of one family, one people," he said. "Let us pray for the emergence of new opportunities for dialogue, encounter, and the resolution of differences."

No North Korean Catholics joined the event. Organizers said Pyongyang rejected an invitation from the South Korean Catholic Church.

The Pope also made a new gesture of outreach to China, saying he hopes to improve relations with Beijing. He added he wasn't talking about political dialogue but "fraternal" relations.
