A new terrorism scare has roiled Russia in the lead-up to the Sochi Olympics.

Russian security forces are conducting an anti-terror sweep in the Stavropol region, just 200 miles from Sochi, after six dead bodies and explosive devices were discovered there this week.

The victims were found with gun shot wounds. Their bodies were in four different cars, and three of the cars had been rigged with bombs. One of those bombs went off, but no one was hurt.

Officials suspect it's all related to an Islamic insurgency simmering in a nearby region. The incident comes after two suicide bombings in southern Russia killed 34 people in late December.

The winter Olympics kick off in three weeks.
