Calling All Jihadists: ISIS Calls for Holy War
The leader of the Islamic terror group known as Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) is calling for a holy war in Iraq.
Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi is urging Muslims to immigrate to the territory his group has seized in Iraq and Syria in order to help build an Islamic state.
The ISIS chief made a special appeal to those with practical skills to come "answer the dire need of the Muslims."
He also called on jihadi fighters to escalate fighting in the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.
Meanwhile, Gen. Martin Dempsey, the U.S. chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said the key role of U.S. troops in Iraq is to assess whether security forces can hold together.
The news comes as Iraqi forces are fighting to push ISIS out of Tikrit. The Islamic militants seized the city last month and it's been the scene of fierce clashes.
