Meriam Ibrahim, the woman sentenced to death in Sudan for refusing to recant her Christian faith, has appealed the verdict against her.

Her attorney, Eman Abdul-Rahim, says the appeal demands her release based on "procedural errors" committed by the court.

Ibrahim was sentenced to death last month on charges of apostasy for allegedly converting to Christianity from Islam. The 27-year-old denies that accusation, saying she was raised a Christian by her Ethiopian mother.

Ibrahim gave birth to her second child in the prison where she's being held. Her first child is also imprisoned with her.

Sudan's foreign minister says the government can't interfere in the judicial process, but urged Ibrahim to appeal her sentence.
