Videos Show Western Couple Held Hostage by Taliban

The case of an American woman and her Canadian husband being held hostage by the Taliban is finally getting attention after their families publicized two videos from their captors.

The families decided to go public with the videos in light of President Barack Obama's decision to exchange five senior Taliban prisoners held in Guantanamo Bay for U.S. Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl.

Caitlan Coleman and her husband Joshua Boyle lost touch with their families in late 2012 while hiking in a region of Afghanistan controlled by the Taliban.

Coleman was pregnant at the time.

In one of the videos, Coleman appears in a black hijab mentioning her child and asking Obama for help.

"I would ask that my family and my government do everything that they can to bring my husband, child and I to safety and freedom," she reportedly says in the video provided by the Associated Press.

At least 10 Americans are being held worldwide, waiting for the U.S. government to act in their behalf.

Three of them are in Iran, including Pastor Saeed Abedini, sentenced to an eight-year prison term because of his Christian faith.
