Russia has been test firing intercontinental ballistic missiles from a submarine. According to some media reports, it launched two of the missiles within a week.

One of them has a range of more than 7,400 miles. President Vladimir Putin has been working to substantially upgrade the Russian Navy.

"Within the frameworks of testing the reliability of marine strategic nuclear forces, the Tula (nuclear submarine) launched a Sineva intercontinental ballistic missile from the Barents Sea to the Kura Range (in Kamchatka)," the Russian defense ministry said in a statement.

This is the second test of a Russian fired missile in a week after test-firing an intercontinental ballistic missile on Oct. 29.

Meanwhile, Polish President Bronislaw Komorowski has signed into law a new national defense strategy. It's aimed at addressing the threats from the fighting in Ukraine and what it calls Russia's "intensifying policy of confrontation."
