Afghanistan is choosing a new president this weekend and as voting gets closer violence is escalating.

The Taliban have vowed to disrupt Saturday's elections, but even with those threats, Afghan citizens are determined to cast their votes.

"The people of Afghanistan are more committed to go to the polling station for many reasons. Number one -- they want to say no to the Taliban," Shukria Barikzai, an Afghan women's rights activist, said.

"I will vote for the candidate of my choice, God willing. We have no worries and we are not scared of Taliban or suicide attackers," Nazar Gul, a Kabul resident, said.

Nearly 200,000 Afghan forces are being deployed to protect voters and polling stations against Taliban militants who have vowed to disrupt Saturday's election.
