Ukraine says that although it remains committed to an arrangement to end violence in the nation's east, pro-Russia militants are not keeping their end of the deal.

While Russia has signed an agreement in Geneva to withdraw its forces from the region, the situation appears to be getting worse. In a short time, pro-Russia militants have seized several government buildings in the Ukrainian city of Luhansk.

Meanwhile in the Donetsk region, about 40 people, including journalists and seven European military observers, are being held hostage by insurgents.

Karen Springs, an American who has lived in Ukraine for nearly 10 years, runs CBN's Orphans Promise ministry in Kiev.

She spoke with CBN News Senior International Correspondent George Thomas about what life is like living through the political turmoil, on CBN Newswatch, April 29.
