After months of chilly relations over America's nuclear deal with Iran, President Barack Obama and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will meet Nov. 9 at the White House.

The meeting comes roughly six months after the Israeli leader appeared before a joint meeting of Congress in March and criticized the nuclear accord.

Among other issues, the two leaders are expected to discuss implementation of the Iran nuclear deal, as well as efforts to counter the Islamic Republic's activities in the region.

Even so, Jonathan Schanzer, vice president of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, suggested Israel's feathers are likely still ruffled over being sidelined during talks with Iran.

"I know the administration has reached out to Israel to work together to combat Iran's regional influence," he told Haaretz. "But the Israelis see the United States as playing the role of arsonist — and firefighter."

Meanwhile, it appears the accord is all but a done deal, with congressional Republicans failing this week to block it from going forward.
