At least five people were killed and four wounded after a shooting at a Russian Orthodox Church on Sunday.

A gunman opened fire with a hunting rifle while churchgoers were leaving Sunday service.

It happened in the city of Kizlyar which is located in Dagestan, a predominantly Muslim region of Russia.

The Islamic State group posted a statement on an IS-affiliated terrorist website claiming responsibility for the shooting.

Russia media outlets report the gunman was a local resident. Authorities have detained his wife for questioning but police haven't released a possible motive.
