Pre-Olympics: More Woes Than Democrats in Philly

Email scandals and the resignation of the Democratic National Committee Chairperson may be occupying much media attention this week, but the Democratic Convention troubles are nothing compared to those facing the people of Brazil in advance of the Olympics next month.

More than half of Brazilians said they opposed their country hosting the 2016 Olympics, but the nation moved forward—despite the Zika virus outbreak, despite the corruption scandal and impeachment trial (during the Olympics) of Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff, and despite a struggling economy and $6 billion in Olympics cost overruns.
