DNC and Media 'Khan' Job

08-03-2016

It seems the Democratic National Committee has been duped by convention speaker Khizr Khan.

In the DNC's eagerness to bash Donald Trump, it may not have vetted Mr. Khan properly before inviting him to speak. If the DNC had done its homework by simply examining Kahn's website, it may have noticed that he has written extensively over the years in support of sharia (Islamic) law.

Breitbart News examined his website and found that several of his writings supported the "supremacy of Islamic law over 'man-made' Western law."

You're unlikely to hear about this in the mainstream media. The Media Research Center--a Reston, Virginia-based group that monitors media bias, says that CBS, NBC, ABC and others paid much more attention to Khan at the DNC convention than they did the grieving mother of Benghazi attack victim Sean Smith.

MRC reports a media double standard in which Khan's bashing of Trump received 50 times more coverage than Pat Smith's criticism of Hillary Clinton at the Republican convention.

At the Democrat convention, Mr. Khan criticized the Republican presidential nominee's lack of support for the U.S. Constitution and questioned whether Trump had ever read the document. He offered to give Trump a copy.

But Khan's past writings shows he doesn't support the same constitutional principles that he expects Trump to follow. He believes the Islamic holy book should "trump" the U.S. Constitution.

Trump knows about sharia and is often criticized by members of the media and others when he says Muslim migrants should not be allowed to live in this democratic nation if they support anti-democratic principles.

Sharia law mandates that the hands of thieves be cut off for stealing, adulterers be stoned to death, homosexuals hanged, and those who speak out freely and criticize the prophet Mohammed should be killed.

These are not accepted American principles.

On January 20, 2017, our next president will take an oath to "defend and protect the Constitution of The United States." Defending it also means protecting it from those who wish to destroy or replace it with sharia law.

Yes, Khizr Khan and his wife should be praised for sacrificing their son in the Iraq War. As the father of an Iraqi Freedom veteran, I thank God that my son did not pay that ultimate price for his country. My heart goes out to the Khan family, and I pray that their hurting hearts will be healed.

But I would hope that Khan remembers to thank God for giving him the privilege to live in a country where he has the freedom to publicly share his views about Donald Trump, or anyone else. He would not have that freedom in many countries where Islamic law is practiced.

And he should explain why he has supported sharia law, the same Islamic principles defended and espoused by the Iraqi jihadists who killed his son.
