Istanbul Aftermath: Denouncing Islamic Terror

01-02-2017

We now know that ISIS was responsible for killing nearly 40 New Year's revelers at an east Istanbul nightclub.

The United Nations and many Western governments quickly denounced the attack. A White House National Security Council spokesman called the terrorism an act of savagery and said the U.S. sends thoughts and prayers to the families of the victims. He said America will support NATO ally Turkey in the fight against terrorism.

Condemnation from Muslim leaders was noticeably absent. Silence is the usual response in the aftermath of terror attacks committed in the name of Allah.

But in recent months there has been a growing chorus of Muslim voices speaking out--at least against acts of terror committed by ISIS.

Just days before the Istanbul nightclub attack, the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI) reported the latest heard on Saudi Arabia television.

MEMRI's TV monitoring project recorded Saudi Muslim cleric Abd Al-Aziz Moussa denouncing the murder of innocents. He said such actions are forbidden--haram--whether in Riyadh or Tel Aviv.

Take a look at the MEMRI video posted above.

And let's pray the incoming Trump administration encourages Muslim leaders like Sheik Abd Al-Aziz Moussa to not only speak out on television but to also have the courage to share their way of thinking in mosques and madrassas throughout the Middle East.
