MAKING IT EASY FOR MEN
Holly says most men cook out of necessity, for relaxation or simply to command the grill!  Sometimes, they don’t know exactly what to fix that will make a meal both nutritious and delicious.  Holly teamed up with men’s health specialist Dr. Curtis Chastain.  Dr. Chastain brought his knowledge of preventing common men’s health issues, such as heart attacks, diabetes and cancer, before they begin.  He says, “Healthy food has gotten a bad reputation of being difficult to prepare and not very appetizing.  In this book, we want our guys to see that health and healthy eating can go hand-in-hand.”  

Together they came up with recipes for men using everyday ingredients, utensils and flavors.  “All the books on men’s health are about building muscle or dieting,” says Holly.  “I’ve always been about wellness from the inside out.”  The cookbook isn’t just about grilling but grilling has the reputation of being the guy’s cooking turf.  Men’s Health Month is June so Holly felt it was a great time to help men step away from the grill and expand their cooking abilities in the kitchen.  “The recipes go beyond health,” she says.  “We created chapters based on the busy man or even the outdoor expert.”

Most of the recipes are diabetic friendly so the cookbook could actually help diabetics.  “Everyone should be practicing the same well-balanced, healthy lifestyle that is required for diabetics,” says Holly.  “Whole nutritious foods that are moderate sugar, healthy fat and portion control are ideal for everyone.”
