Jesus Is Back! NBC Presents the Book of Acts in Upcoming TV Series, "A.D." - Trailer

Roma Downey and Mark Burnett are picking up where they left off. The Bible executive producers are presenting the first 10 chapters of the Book of Acts to primetime audiences with their upcoming TV event, A.D. This Easter, the 12-part NBC series will recount the historic and harrowing events that followed the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

“Christianity is among the most diverse movements in history, so when Mark and I looked to bring this epic story of A.D. to life on NBC, it was important to us to find a cast as diverse and beautiful as the church is around the world.” said Downey. “We look forward to sharing these amazing performances with our audience, and in them we hope that people see themselves.”

Boasting a new international cast, A.D. employs the talents of stage and screen's Juan Pablo di Pace (Argentina) as Jesus and supporting actors from 10 different nations, including Gambia, Zimbabwe, Jamaica, Scotland and Iceland.

While filming in Morocco this fall, the cast and crew say they witnessed a "sign from God". Recently, Downey recalled the miraculous moment.

"On the A.D. set ... we were filming Peter and John in front of the Sanhedrin.... When Adam Levy (who plays Peter) turned to Babou Ceesay (who is playing John) and pointed to the sky directly overhead, there they could see clouds had formed in a completely blue sky in the perfect shape of a cross. Everyone was stunned and filming stopped as phones came out and everyone was snapping pictures. It was such a moment of awe and everyone was saying it was a sign, it was a blessing. To see a cross in the sky…. it certainly energized a tired, hardworking crew for the rest of the day and reminded everyone that we were being watched over as we are working hard to bring the Book of Acts to the screen on Easter.” Roma continued, “I shared this picture with a pastor friend and he reminded me of this scripture from Peter's sermon at the birth of the church (Acts 2:19): 'And I will grant wonders in the sky above and signs on the earth below, blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke.’"

This "blessing" and the following trailer for this new Bible show are both good signs of what's to come.
