The White House has gone into denial mode over NASA Administrator Charles Bolden's unequivocal statement to Al Jazeera that President Obama told him to use the space agency to make Muslims feel better about their culture and history.

Today, White House press secretary Robert Gibbs said "That was not his task, and that's not the task of NASA."

Oh really? The White House backed up Bolden last week when his remarks first generated different levels of shocked disbelief.  And as I wrote, this does indeed sound like something President Obama would tell the head of NASA to do. And yes, Islam really has impoverished Arab culture and achievement.
