Useful Idiots for an Islamic Revolution

09-12-2012

The image of the lifeless body of American ambassador Chris Stevens in the streets of Benghazi, Libya, should become the new logo of the so-called “Arab Spring;” a multi-state political disaster that Stevens' bosses in the White House have bankrolled and encouraged. The Arab Spring is taking nations in the Middle East into a new dark age of Islamic tyranny that I expect will end in war with Israel.

In May, President Obama said of the Arab Spring, that “after decades of accepting the world as it is in the region, we have a chance to pursue the world as it should be,” and it will be “the policy of the United States to promote reform across the region.”

“Reform” has meant replacing what some would call brutal but relatively benign secular dictatorships with unstable, dangerous states under the sway of radical Islam.

During the Cold War, left-wingers who admired or apologized for the Soviet empire were called “useful idiots” for Kremlin propaganda. Unfortunately, it seems that deluded lefties, like the poor, will always be with us. The Obama administration and members of Congress have become useful idiots for a dangerous Islamic revolution.

And throw former President George W. Bush into the bin with this bunch. In May, Bush praised the Arab Spring and said the U.S. shouldn't fear the spread of "freedom." Bush wasted precious lives and treasure on wars based on his Wilsonian folly that “all men want to live in freedom.”

They all most certainly do not want freedom. Some simply want a better standard of living and a flat screen TV. Some want their enemies to die. In the Middle East, many want an Islamic theocracy, which can never be democratic.

I sat in a halal restaurant in a dingy section of Antwerp, Belgium, early this year questioning and being lectured by Islamic radical Foud Belkacem (Belkacem has since been convicted of hate speech and sentenced to prison). Belkacem preached what many critics of Islam get labeled “Islamophobe” for saying: that the Koran and democracy are utterly incompatible, and moderate Muslims who believe in democracy may be celebrated by the West as a wonderful new kind of Muslim, but they are not “true Muslims” according to the Koran.

It would save a lot of American lives if we had a government that understood that the Koran and democracy are incompatible. But in this age of madness, when the world’s superpower is tweeting apologies to the Muslim world for our freedom of speech, that is probably too much to hope for.
