Marked for Human Sacrifice

CBN.com - Aisha is like a big sister in this children’s home. She takes care of the little ones, and helps prepare meals. Every day she’s happy to be alive, because she knows that as a baby, she was marked for human sacrifice.

“My father was going to kill me so he could have a good harvest,” Aisha recalls.

Gloria, who runs the children’s home, says tribal superstitions here call for brutal rituals.

“They get a chicken and a rooster. The chief priest makes incantations, and beats the baby with the chicken until the chicken dies,” Gloria says. “Then they cut off the chicken’s head, and pour the blood on the baby. Sometime during this ritual, the baby will die.”

Instead of dying at the hands of a witchdoctor, Aisha was taken by Christians in the village and given to Gloria and her husband, Sola.

“Now I can go to school, and learn about Jesus,” Aisha says.

Aisha was the first baby they took in. Over the years, Gloria and Sola rescued more than 40 children. They lived in a three-room house that they rented.

“It was very tight and uncomfortable,” Aisha recalls. “There were so many children we hardly had room to lie down at night to sleep.”

When we heard about the wonderful work Gloria and Sola were doing to save children’s lives, we built them a new home. Now, every child has his or her own bed, and plenty of room to thrive.

“Here at the new house, Gloria and Sola have more space than they ever have before,” says CBN reporter Daniel Reany. “And because of that, they’ve been able to adopt more than a half dozen babies that wouldn’t be alive without them. All the babies come here sick and malnourished. But here, they have a chance to grow up healthy and strong.”

The kids love to play ball outside, or just hang out with each other singing and dancing.

“Our new home is spacious and beautiful,” says Aisha. “I would like to say a big thank you to CBN. May God bless you and provide for all you need. Thank you so much!”

Children should have a safe and loving place to grow up. But Aisha's situation was challenging. Thank you, CBN Partners, you made it possible for her to have a new life.
