It’s Exciting to Share about Jesus

As I ate breakfast with my three-year-old son this morning, I could not help but be amused by the conversation. It was all about frogs.

His childlike wonder for his favorite reptile gets him so riled up that he talks fast and excitedly about them. You can tell that he has some major passion for this amphibian.

Because of the twinkle in his eyes and his excited voice I cannot help but grin as he talks. This is the beauty of having passion for something; it draws others in. I know more about frogs now than ever in my near 32 years. Through all of this, I discovered that my little three-year-old boy has such a joy when it comes to these creatures that he wants to teach others about them.

Then, I started thinking, this is how we should all be when we share about Jesus. It should be our joy to talk about Him with everyone in our lives. Our excitement for our faith will draw them in.

I don’t know why we become shy sometimes when it comes to sharing our love for Jesus. We can talk about sports, cars, even the weather; but when it comes to opening up our hearts and sharing about our faith, we are almost afraid to offend people.

Alan, my son, taught me that I should not hold back the joy I have in my heart. I want people to see the twinkle in my eyes as I speak of what God has done in my life. I want that amazing, uncontainable child-like wonder and excitement to come out. I do not want fear to keep me from sharing what I know about Jesus.

The truth is that Christianity sometimes gets a bad rap. Sometimes, people of faith are prejudged because of what people have experienced from Christians. That shouldn’t be a hinderance to sharing the love, happiness and peace that God offers us.

We should share our love for God with the same kind of elation a little boy has when he’s talking about his his favorite animal or a little girl has when she’s telling you about her favorite toy. People need to see what it’s like to live a life of faith, a life of peace and joy. We should never hide underneath the cloak of political correctness or fear sharing what we know.

Sharing love is never a mistake. Sharing about Jesus in a positive way that draws people in is also a great example to our kids to do the same.

Jesus wants everyone to know that He is real. Share that light and happiness with your world.
