In an exclusive interview with The Brody File at his golf course in Southern California, GOP Presidential Candidate Donald Trump heaps praise on the Bible and refers to the Book of Proverbs when discussing envy.
"There's so many things that you can learn from it (the Bible). Proverbs, the chapter 'never bend to envy.' I've had that thing all of my life where people are bending to envy."
Trump also compares the Bible to a great movie.
"I don’t like to use this analogy, but like a great movie, a great, incredible movie. You’ll see it once it will be good. You'll see it again. You can see it 20 times and every time you'll appreciate it more. The Bible is the most special thing."
The subject of envy does come up in the Book of Proverbs a few times. The Trump campaign tells me that he's referring to Proverbs 24:1-2 which says, “Be not thou envious against evil men, neither desire to be with them. For their heart studieth destruction, and their lips talk of mischief.”
Trump plays well with the, "I'm Sick and Tired Of It Evangelical Voter." However, when it comes to evangelical voters who want a candidate to wear their faith on their sleeve that's not Trump. He's not going to appeal to those folks all that much but there are so many evangelicals that fit into the 'sick and tired" crowd that he has a chance to rack up quite a few evangelical votes.
The Brody File spent Tuesday afternoon with the GOP frontrunner at Trump National Golf Course in Rancho Palos Verdes California. We did part of the interview inside the beautiful clubhouse. The other part of the interview took place outside on the 18th hole. Some clips from that part of the venue will move soon.
During the interview, Trump went with the suit and "Make America Great Again" hat. It's become his laid-back campaign-style look.
We talked about everything: faith, God, insults, the Bible, forgiveness, politics, Supreme Court Justices, Kim Davis, and the list goes on. Stay tuned here to The Brody File for more clips.
The Brody File television report on the Trump interview airs Wednesday morning across the country on The 700 Club. Also, next week, we'll have an in-depth report on more of our faith discussion.

Donald Trump: There's so many things that you can learn from it (The Bible). Proverbs, the chapter 'never bend to envy.' I've had that thing all of my life where people are bending to envy. Actually it's an incredible book, so many things you can learn from the Bible and you can lead your life. I'm not just talking in terms of religion; I'm talking in terms of leading a life even beyond religion. There are so many brilliant things in the Bible.
The Bible, is special, the Bible --the more you see it, the more you read it, the more incredible it is. I don't like to use this analogy, but like a great movie, a great, incredible movie. You'’ll see it once it will be good. You'll see it again. You can see it 20 times and every time you'll appreciate it more. The Bible is the most special thing.
