My Christian Duty to Pray For Our New President!

When I woke up this morning, the first thing on my mind was "It's Inauguration Day."

God immediately spoke to me to read 1 Timothy 2:1-4 which says,

"I urge, then, first of all, that petition, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people - for kings and for all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.  This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved an to come to a knowledge of the truth."

I also felt compelled to read Matthew 5 verse 9, "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God."

During a time of prayer this morning, I shared these scriptures with a small prayer group that I pray with twice a month.

We prayed for President Obama, for President Trump, their families, the incoming cabinet members, their families, our pastors, etc.

We also repented for being somewhat slack in our prayers for those in authority over us.

Little did I know that once I got to work at CBN News, that I would be assigned to monitor the prayers at the inauguration of President Trump.

I also had no clue, how could I? - that those same passages from the Bible would be quoted at the inauguration of our new president.  Wow!

With so much division in our country right now, I believe God is looking for His people, those who name the name of Jesus, to be agents of healing, unity and peace... powered by what Jesus said was, "the greatest of these" - LOVE.

Therefore I submit Lord, to my Christian duty to pray for my President, Donald J. Trump, his cabinet, and for all those in authority, that I may live a quiet and peaceful life in all godliness and holiness.

Amen!
