Brody File Exclusive: Ted Cruz Not Paying Attention to 2016 Presidential Talk

In a one-on-one interview at his home in Houston, Texas, Sen. Ted Cruz tells The Brody File that he tries not to pay attention to the “media circus” regarding whether he will run for president in 2016.

This interview was done this past Friday at Ted Cruz’s home in Houston. An upcoming profile on Ted Cruz and his family will be seen on "The 700 Club" in February. It will include an interview with his wife and video of his children. Cruz is also the newsmaker in this week’s Brody File shot on location in San Antonio, Texas.

David Brody: So with all of that media attention that you’re receiving, some of those articles have to do with ‘Ted Cruz running for President in 2016:  it could happen.’  This is what they’re saying. When you read those articles, what goes through your mind?

Sen. Ted Cruz: You know, I try not to pay attention to it. There are big challenges facing this country. I mean, we’re going broke. Our national debt is larger than the size of our economy, and millions of Americans are, for a very good reason, are concerned for the future of our country.

I mean, every generation of Americans going back centuries has given the next generation, greater opportunity, greater prosperity and we’re on the verge of becoming potentially the first generation in history to give our kids and grandkids less prosperity, less opportunity.

The stakes, I think, have never been higher, and so, I try very much to tune out the media circus, not to pay attention to any speculations on their part and to stay focused on the task at hand.
