Ted Cruz To Brody File: Government Shutdown Will Hurt Democrats in 2014
In an exclusive interview with The Brody File, Sen. Ted Cruz says he believes this government shutdown will come back to hurt the Democrat Party politically in 2014.
The Brody File asked him “Do you believe that this will come back to bite the president and the Democrats in 2014?
Cruz responded as follows: “Absolutely… the Democrats are taking irresponsible dangerous votes. Every single Senate Democrat voted against eliminating the congressional exemption (on Obamacare). When the House passed it, Harry Reid marched all 54 Democrats to vote off that cliff, that they want to keep the special exemption from Obamacare that hard working American families don’t get. Now that was a foolish vote. And their position on the VA (Veterans Affairs) is utterly indefensible.”

David Brody: Do you believe that this will come back to bite the president and the Democrats in 2014? Do you believe that is what is going to happen here?
Sen. Ted Cruz: Absolutely. I think number one, the Democrats are taking irresponsible dangerous votes. Every single Senate Democrat voted against eliminating the congressional exemption (on Obamacare). When the House passed it, Harry Reid marched all 54 Democrats to vote off that cliff, that they want to keep the special exemption from Obamacare that hard working American families don’t get. Now that was a foolish vote. And their position on the VA (Veterans Affairs) is utterly indefensible. The funding for the VA is a clean bill. It doesn’t mention Obamacare.
I think these positions (on not funding the VA and voting against eliminating the special congressional exemption for Obamacare) are wildly unreasonable. Look, we’ve seen the game playing that President Obama and the Democrats are doing with our memorials and our parks. We’ve seen them putting barricades at the World War 2 memorials, trying to stop World War II vets.
