The Judges Strike Back: Gay Marriage Bans Ruled OK

Well this is a BIG deal. Hey, same-sex marriage advocates, here’s a newsflash for you: Your march to so-called equality just took a big hit. And it came from your favorite avenue of change: Judges! Turnabout is fair play, right

Read below from USA Today:

The same-sex marriage movement lost its first major case in a federal appeals court Thursday after a lengthy string of victories, creating a split among the nation's circuit courts that virtually guarantees Supreme Court review.

The ruling from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 6th Circuit reversed district court rulings that had struck down gay marriage bans in Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky and Tennessee.

More important, it gives Supreme Court justices an appellate ruling that runs counter to four others from the 4th, 7th, 9th and 10th circuits. Those rulings struck down same-sex marriage bans in Virginia, Indiana, Wisconsin, Oklahoma, Utah, Idaho and Nevada and led to similar action in neighboring states.

The six cases before the three-judge panel involved not only whether gays and lesbians should be able to marry, but whether marriages performed elsewhere should be recognized, whether same-sex couples should be able to adopt children, and whether their names should be placed on partners' death certificates.

More here.

Here’s another newsflash: Conservative Christian leaders will not give up the fight to preserve traditional marriage. This ruling is a major shot in the arm for evangelicals everywhere dedicated to making sure marriage stays between one man and one woman.

Also, a quick side note: enough with calling these laws, "anti-gay marriage." They are called "pro-traditional marriage laws." Homosexuals shouldn't be treated unkindly. That's not what this is about. It's simply about preserving the sacred institution of marriage the way God describes it in the Bible.

One final note: Gay marriage may be legal in 32 states but 22 of those states had it forced upon them by a bunch of judges. That includes states like Utah, Oklahoma and many others where the people of those states overwhelmingly are against it.
