Brody File Election Analysis: The Midterm Rejections

What is really left to say: for Democrats this was simply a bloodbath. There's no sugar coating it. It wasn't the midterm elections for them. It was the midterm rejections.

Put it this way: if you gave the Democrats a choice as to whether they would like to suffer defeats like they did Tuesday evening or be stuck in an elevator with Celine Dion music being looped for 48 straight hours, I’m thinking they're choosing Celine and the elevator.

But let's stop bashing Democrats for a moment and turn our attention to Republicans.

The GOP better be careful here. They had their fun and made political hay out of bashing President Obama but that's over. Now they must govern and figure out a way to not look so partisan and "gridlocky" (not a word!).

Of course that's easier said than done. There will be a major pull to get Democrats and Harry Reid back for all of their tricks and antics that they imposed on the GOP for years.

Will they take the low road or the high road? Will it be payback or pay it forward? In other words, the best the Republican Party can do at this point is plow away and send bills to the president's desk (with help from moderate Democrats) and pull a Clint Eastwood by telling the president, 'Go ahead, make my day.'

Then we see if the president pulls out the veto pen. At that point, we have a 'game on' situation. We have a GOP agenda vs. a president and a party that says no way, Jose.

It sets up perfectly for a 2016 presidential battle and The Brody File will be there every step of the way.
