Ben Carson Says He Is an 'Instrument in the Hand of God.' Says America Needs a "'Spiritual Awakening'
Before you know it, the 2016 presidential race will be here. A number of potential candidates are being talked about and one popular choice is a very well-known doctor.
The Brody File visited with Dr. Ben Carson and his wife Candy at their home in West Palm Beach, Florida. Below is the national television story that will air on The 700 Club tomorrow (Thursday, Dec.11).

Among the highlights from Dr. Carson in the piece:
On God in his life: "We recognize that we are being instruments in the hand of God. He is the one who really orchestrates all of this.”
On the out of control debt: "Unless we get a grip on that, why wouldn't we suffer the same fates as other pinnacle nations who have allowed debt to encumber their progress?"
On America’s founding: "We are in fact a Judeo-Christian nation and I think that's a huge part of our strength.”
On his message to President Obama: "I would want to tell him, 'Sir, I understand that you have very defined ideas of what you think America is, but you work for the people, they don't work for you.”
On Congress standing up to President Obama: "Hopefully the legislatures in Congress will understand what they need to do. They need to have a spine. They need to stand up because once you allow someone to take liberties with the system, they're not going to stop.”
On America’s spiritual state: "We most definitely need a spiritual awakening. Look at the direction we are going in. Absolute absurdity.”

Well, where do we start with Ben Carson? How about this: he's just a plain nice guy. Does that mean he can be president? Well, of course not. As a matter of fact, he may be TOO NICE to be president.
But look, The Brody File experience down in West Palm Beach with him was as follows: what you see is what you get. He oozes authenticity and he's not afraid to be himself. That's a stellar quality in a human being, let alone someone who might run for president.
So what about his chances if he runs? Look, he has a shot. The political prognosticators will poo-poo his chances but don't discount him. He has an uplifting message and he's not a politician. Those are two good attributes right there.
He's also going to be well organized and possibly well-funded. Those are two more feathers in his cap.
The downside: well, it's the same as the upside in that he's not a politician. You see, he's going to have to learn to navigate the shark-infested waters of politics. That means he has to be mindful of what he says, how he says it, when he says it, and to whom he says it.
And he'll have to figure all of it out on the fly. He's a smart guy, actually a really smart guy, so he can figure it out. But remember, politics is different than medicine.
For decades he was saving lives. In politics, it’s not about saving lives. It’s about destroying lives.
But The Brody File senses that Ben Carson will be just fine. He's a survivor: he's seen it all. We now wait to see if America is ready to buy in to Dr. Carson's prescription for this country.
