Don't Blame Media in Marco Rubio Water Bottle Incident

There has been a lot of criticism aimed at the mainstream media because they’re making such a big deal about this Marco Rubio water-sipping incident.

Believe me, I understand that there are more important things to discuss than Marco Rubio getting dry mouth in the middle of a big speech. But the Brody File understands why the media is making such a big deal of it.

First of all, it’s not everyday that a hyped-up address like that has such an embarrassing moment. That’s just newsy in and of itself. But it’s more than that. We live in a culture today where more than ever, like it or not, voters decide on candidates not such much on issues but on cult of personality.

Political candidates, in this day and age of 24/7 social media must be careful of being defined. Every slip up matters and, sorry to say, but voters form their opinions based on them. Is it fair? No. Is it right? No. But it exists.

And it exists because Americans care about those things. The media is just feeding the superficiality of our present day culture. That’s the reality.

Don’t blame the media when it’s more a statement about what we care about when it comes to our politicians.
