His comments came within the context of talking about the concept of the Christian “Just War” theory. He also explains how he sees the issue of war through a biblical world view. It’s worth watching and reading below.
The Brody File spent a couple days with Rand Paul and his family down in Kentucky. Rand Paul’s wife (Kelley Paul) sat for the interview as well at their home in Bowling Green Kentucky.
The national profile on him (including an interview with his wife) will air on The 700 Club Thursday. We are releasing some clips ahead of the interview. We will also release more clips on Thursday. Much of this material is NOT in the final 700 Club piece.
Also, watch our Brody File show this week where we devote the entire thirty minutes to our Rand Paul coverage. Watch here.

Senator Rand Paul: "When we talk about war, that I think part of Republicans problems and frankly to tell you the truth some in the evangelical Christian movement I think have appeared too eager for war."
Senator Rand Paul: "When I read the New Testament, when I read about Jesus, he wasn't really involved with a war of his days. In fact people rebuked him for not being the king they wanted. They wanted somebody to stand up to the Romans. He stood up in a different sort of way but he didn't organize coalitions and guerilla bands and arm them. Now I'm not saying that you shouldn't have people who do want to defend against evil bad forces around the World but I think you need to remember that He was the Prince of Peace. We're talking about 'Blessed are the Peacemakers' not 'Blessed are the Warmakers.’ That doesn’t mean that we don’t have a strong national defense but we should be, at least I think the Republican Party needs to be the Party that is a reluctant party to go to war who believes in a strong national defense because it's a prevention of war not because it allows us to go and be involved in war everywhere and we've got to have boots on the ground. The people who in my party who want that I think are the people who are shrinking my party and I think that’s why I we need something that is new and a little bit different and some of that might be called libertarian. Some of that might be just called a little bit more of a reserved reluctance to go to war."
