Dear "Fred Heads"

01-22-2008

The following letter is from me to the thousands of "Fred Heads" out there.

Dear "Fred Heads,"

I'm so sorry. Your guy Fred Thompson is out. I know you thought he would be the best nominee by far. The true conservative in the race, authentic, yada yada yada.

But "Fred heads," be honest. C'mon. We have a special relationship. We can keep it "real." There was just something missing. He has charisma, intelligence, Southern charm, authenticity and sound policy proposals. So what was it?

"Fred Heads," he didn't adapt.

Fred was going to do things his way. He was going to keep his schedule. He wasn't going to let anyone, especially the media, dictate how his campaign should look and feel.

While Romney, McCain and Giuliani were doing five or six events per day, Fred may have done two. Three was a big day. He simply didn't match the other candidates when it came to money, resources and time spent grinding it out.

I saw him on the stump. He wasn't the greatest speaker in the world. He kind of meandered through speeches and stumping on the trail. It wasn't crisp.

I know you think that style is just fluff and shouldn't matter…but it does. He seemed a little too nonchalant. You may have a great product, but if you don't sell it - well then, nobody's going to buy it. Style points are important because let's face it "Fred Heads," most people vote with their heart, not with their head.

Having said all that, he may indeed be the true conservative in the race. I guess we'll never know.

Anyhow, let me just say I've enjoyed reading your e-mails. I've tried to be fair. Even when you had a bone to pick,  you did it in a very nice and kind way. True Southern charm. You are a passionate group of people and love our country.

Goodnight "Fred Heads." God bless you.

Sincerely,

The Brody File
