It’s time to put Tim Pawlenty through “The Brody File Full Body Scanner”.

On this week’s Brody File show, we have an exclusive interview with Mary and Tim Pawlenty as we begin a series of 30 minute shows called, “The Elephant in the Room” where we profile each likely GOP presidential contender Also on the show: The Washington Post’s Chris Cillizza and the Politico’s Jonathan Martin You can watch the whole show here but below are three separate clips from the show.

First, watch Pawlenty undergo the “Full Body Scanner”. Transcriptions below.

Tim Pawlenty: “There’s a place for jokes and entertainment and the drama of the media and politics and the intersection of that but we also need people that are thoughtful and have done their homework, know what they’re talking about, reliable, steady folks and I think people want both.”

Chris Cilliza: “The one thing I would take issue with in what Governor Pawlenty said is he says the media wants to be entertaining. That’s not what this is about. Does the media like a Mike Huckabee who’s really engaging? Sure.”

Below, watch where Pawlenty rates on the “Snooze Factor”

Jonathan Martin: “This is not, bless his soul, Paul Tsongas somebody who was a total wonkfest. Look, Tim Pawlenty can walk into an Iowa restaurant and talk about football, talk about the crops, talk about ice hockey. He’s someone that can relate to people. I think he’s got that gene certainly. What Chris and I are talking about is when he’s on stage and when he’s sort of giving a speech. Do folks then really get into him?”

Finally, how recognizable is Tim Pawlenty to average Americans? Our Jennifer Wishon takes to the streets to get a sampling. We like to call it, "The Lineup". Watch below.

Tim Pawlenty: “We operate in media world and so people expect it to be entertaining and it’s got to be but we also live in serious times.”
