Donald Trump on 700 Club, Says 'I have never met a press so dishonest as the political press'

Love him or hate him, it is clear real estate mogul and reality TV star Donald Trump can command an audience.Case in point: Newt Gingrich's recent visit with Trump in New York City, presumably to ask the businessman for an endorsement of his presidential campaign, caused a media mob scene Other candidates also made the trip for Trump's backing, but Trump saved his praise for front-runners, Gingrich and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney - and himself.
"I think he (Gingrich) would beat Obama very easily in a debate. I think that frankly, Mitt Romney would beat Obama very easily in a debate," Trump told CBN News. "I think Obama is highly overrated," he added. "I think they would both win very easily in a debate. And I would love to debate him."
Trump considered running for president earlier this year. While he eventually bowed out, he did put his prescriptions for the country in his new book titled Time to Get Tough.
"I felt that this was the most important book that I've done," Trump said. "And it was the book that I actually worked the hardest on."
Two other major targets in Trump's book are China and the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries, also known as OPEC.
"The fact is, money is being drained out of this country, and it's happening at an alarming rate: $350 billion this year from China alone, $4 billion from Colombia," Trump noted.
"And it's not like China and Colombia, it's every country," he said. "They all make good deals because we have people that have no clue as to what they're doing."
Smart but Clueless?
That little slam was directed at President Obama, who gets especially rough treatment in Trump's book.His long list of beefs with the commander in chief include the president's insistence on apologizing to Muslim countries for America's behavior.
"I'm concerned that we're going to go over the abyss," Trump said. "We have incompetent leadership. We have people that have no clue. Either that or they're evil." "I don't think they're evil," he added. "I think they have no clue. I don't think they're smart."
"The Donald" is not too fond of the press either.
"I have never met a press so dishonest as the political press," he charged.
"What they do with Obama is unbelievable. He goes to England. He makes all sorts of mistakes and gaffes and signs the wrong date by two years or so and everyone says, 'Oh, isn't that wonderful. Isn't that wonderful?'" Trump said.
Trump will take on the press in a few weeks as moderator of a presidential debate in Iowa.
Most of the candidates have declined to attend, saying the millionaire reality star shouldn't be taken seriously. But Trump wants a role in the race.
"I've gotten to know the candidates, and I just want to make sure we get the right candidate," Trump told CBN News. "So at some point, I'll be endorsing somebody and hopefully that person will win."?And in Trump's opinion, his new book should be required reading for any candidate trying to move the country in the right direction.
