Here's an interesting way to try and get people to vote for Mitt Romney and against President Obama. Former presidential candidate and actor Fred Thompson is asking people to vote for “thousands and thousands of children who have not yet been born.”
Thompson has recorded the following robocall for the pro-life Susan B. Anthony List.
Listen below and read the transcription.
“Hello, this is Fred Thompson. I want to take just a few seconds to ask for your vote...not for me, but for thousands and thousands of children who have not yet been born. The fact is that Barack Obama is the most pro-abortion president we’ve ever had. If he is re-elected, more and more babies will never be born. If you value human life, you need to cast your vote against Barack Obama. Thanks for listening.”
The call is part of an effort by the SBA List to make 4 million voter contacts in the final days before the election. The contacts will be in the key swing states of Colorado, Iowa, Michigan, North Carolina, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Nevada, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Virginia, Florida, and Wisconsin.
It'll be interesting to see how effective ads like this will be. The abortion issue may not be front and center put it does play a role in the attitude of voters toward a candidate.
For example, folks in Southwestern Pennsylvania might respond pretty favorably to a robocall like this. Romney needs the "clings to guns and religion" crowd to come out in that part of PA to win the state.
