Chris Christie just said at a town hall tonight in New Hampshire that the act of abortion is one of self-defense.

I' trying to square how aborting an innocent, blameless child is self-defense. Christie is referring to exceptions like rape and incest but surely there's a much better way to not only say it but to think about it.
It comes out sounding like Planned Parenthood language. Even in the "less religious" state of New Hampshire, you would think this sort of remark would be a bit problematic.
