Donald Trump Sings "New York, New York"

04-20-2016

Donald Trump sings, “New York, New York.” Hum along as The Brody File presents some lyrical analysis of the New York primary.

Start spreadin' the news, (that he may get to 1237 on the first ballot)

I'm leavin' today (for Indiana where he has to do really well or his road to 1237 is much rockier)

I want to be a part of it (a reference to Trump’s “Silent Majority”)

New York, New York (and the roughly 90 delegates he received Tuesday night)

These vagabond shoes, are longing to stray (Disregard this line: Trump does not have any, “vagabond” shoes. Only the best!)

Right through the very heart of it (I believe he’s referring to Ted Cruz’s campaign here)

New York, New York (and all his amazing friends, like the “great Carl Icahn.)

I want to wake up, in a city that never sleeps (For the record: Trump only needs 4 hours of sleep. He’s “high energy”).

And find I'm king of the hill (Even if he didn’t win NY by a landslide, Trump would always find himself king of the hill).

Top of the heap (where he expects to be in Cleveland in July)

These little town blues, are melting away (a clear reference to his low point in Wisconsin)

I'll make a brand new start of it In old New York (Yes he did. As a matter of fact, he picked up more net delegates than he lost in Wisconsin AND Colorado combined).

If I can make it there, I'll make it anywhere (Actually, Trump has to, “make it” in California or he’s in trouble. Evangelicals will play a very large role in the Golden State).

It's up to you, New York..New York (New York did its part and Cruz can thank his, “New York Values” line for grabbing ZERO delegates in the state).

Here’ the bottom line going forward: This race is coming down to California and evangelicals are going to have a major say out there. A big delegate grab in that state will either put Trump over the top OR be close enough to grab a few dozen or so “unbound” delegates before the crucial first ballot. As for evangelicals, look at what Biola University Professor Darren Patrick Guerra writes. He specializes in American politics:

“California may have only nine to fifteen percent of evangelicals statewide, yet this voting block may still play an important role. Despite its reputation for liberal politics, California is still home to more Republicans than any other state and is a haven for evangelical “mega-churches.” Indeed, in January, the widely respected California Field Poll estimated that as many as 42 percent of Republican primary voters will be evangelical Christians.”

Start spreading the news about that.

And finally, below for your viewing pleasure, Frank Sinatra sings, “New York, New York.”
