In an interview with The Brody File this morning on Capitol Hill, Senator Marco Rubio says President Trump was within his constitutional authority to issue missile strikes against Syria but an extended operation will require congressional consent.

Senator Marco Rubio: “Constitutionally, it says to declare war. And if the president intends to declare war in Syria and go into combat an extended operation then absolutely I believe he should. But if the president has to take action and take action decisively and quickly to deal with a national security threat, such as chemical weapons in Syria, I mean, we’re about to go on recess around here. Right? So, you cannot follow the process. He cannot be commander in chief if he has to be up here trying to get bills passed out of the senate and the house that sometimes struggles to pass resolutions or naming post offices. That’s not the way our constitution requires it either."
