Senator Marco Rubio: “It was the right decision. Number one, it’s against international law to use chemical weapons. Number two, Syria was under both a United Nations Security Council resolution that called for them to get rid of it and an agreement that the U.S. and Russia was supposed to be guaranteeing, which Assad violated. Number three; we have American troops, hundreds of Americans, embedded in the region and the Americans that are there are in danger of Assad’s chemical weapons. And number four; from a military perspective, it wasn’t a symbolic measure. It was to destroy a specific airfield of important strategic capacity for Assad that had been used in the very chemical attack. So they had a very clear objective and they achieved that objective. So for all of those reasons, it was the right choice."
