They Ate Pig Food!

Every afternoon, LinYuan and her little sister picked wildflowers together. They’re poor, and sometimes the flowers were all they had to eat!

LinYuan recalls, “My Dad would put some sugar in them and cook them up, but they were still bitter and disgusting.”

Even worse were the sweet potato leaves.

“Basically, we were eating pig food!  And sometimes we even had to beg people for it,” says LinYuan.

After the girls’ mother died, their father got sick and dizzy a lot. The doctor said the only way he’d get better is if he rested more, but that meant little money and no real food for his daughters.

“They each lost over 10 pounds. They stopped growing, their faces got yellow, and their immunity was really bad,” Mr. Ma shares. Crying, he confesses, “I was starving my girls. I was useless as a dad.”

Many nights, the girls went to bed hungry.

“I felt empty. A lot of times I felt so bad that I couldn’t go to school,” LinYuan shares.

So even though hard labor made his health worse, Mr. Ma went to work in the fields. One time he fainted.

He says, “I remember my youngest daughter said, ‘Dad, I may be small, but I’ll help you.’  When I heard that, I just cried! The only thing I could think that would help is if I got a bull to plow the fields so I wouldn’t get so dizzy. I tried to borrow money, but no one would help.”

So, he prayed.

“My uncle had told me about Jesus,” he shares. “So, I prayed, ‘Jesus, if you can hear me, help me.’”

Shortly after this, Mr. Ma’s uncle put him in contact with CBN. We gave him the bull he needed to help plow his fields so he wouldn’t get dizzy and sick anymore. We also gave him some cows to start a small business and provided staple food for the family until his new business took off!

Mr. Ma smiles, “My girls finally have healthy food and they’re gaining weight.”

“We don’t have to eat wildflowers. Now we can pick them just for fun because we have plenty to eat and I can go to school and concentrate,” LinYuan exclaims.

“God brought CBN to help us. His love is so great. Now I go to church every Sunday to worship Him,” says Mr. Ma. “Without you, my children would still be starving.”

LinYuan concludes, “Thank you CBN. You changed our lives!”
