God's Prayer for You

The Book of Numbers contains the only prayer written by God Himself for His people. Many assume that the Lord’s prayer found in Matthew 6:9 is written by God but the prayer that Jesus gave his disciples was an example of “how to pray.” In the book of Numbers, we find a prayer dictated by God to bless His people. It was given to Moses and read by Aaron, the High Priest, who prayed it over the children of Israel every day:
“The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace” (Numbers 6:24-26, NIV).

Opposite the Temple Mount, two silver amulets with this prayer were discovered in Jerusalem in 1979. It is 400 years older than the Dead Sea Scrolls, making it the oldest surviving biblical text discovered to date. The power of this prayer was seen as Aaron prayed it over the Jews as they wandered in the desert for forty years. During that time, the Jews were provided for supernaturally, they were healthy, and they had angelic protection. So, why don’t we experience it today as the children of Israel did back then? Warren, a Messianic Jew, believes that the power has been lost in translation.  “We must understand that there are various degrees of benefit we receive from anything written in the Bible. In Judaism, there are several different levels of understanding G-D’s Word”:

  • Peshat-Surface or literal understanding
  • Remez-Deeper truth that the text is pointing to
  • Derash-Illumination of the text
  • Sod- The secret or hidden meaning buried in the nuances of Hebrew letter or words

The catalyst of Warren’s interest in this well-known prayer came in 2013 when his friend, Reverend Rick Amato (who has led over one million people to Christ and met with several Presidents) called him from Israel weeping. Rick had been with an agnostic Jewish archaeologist, Gabriel Barkay, on the site where the two silver amulets (written in Hebrew) were discovered. As Gabriel placed the amulet upon Rick’s neck and pronounced the prayer over him in Hebrew, he felt the power of the Most High G-d like never before! As Warren hung up the phone, he was moved by Rick’s experience and wanted to have the same experience with the Almighty. When Warren opened up his Bible and prayed that prayer, he explains, “I even spoke it out loud over myself with all the passion I could muster. Frankly, I didn’t sense anything unusual… But I sensed from Rick that something far more powerful occurred with him concerning divine prayer—something that shook him to his core.”

This led Warren on a mission to uncover what the divine prayer in Numbers really means. He says, “Though the Priestly Prayer of the Blessing written in our Bibles remains a beautiful prayer, the full meaning as contained in the Ancient Hebrew has been translated into the Amplified Hebrew-to-English and the full power and impact of this prayer can be fully realized and experienced.” Warren believes when this prayer is prayed over us with God’s original blessing, we can also experience the same provision and blessing that the Jews did years ago. This prayer, sung by Paul Wilbur in Hebrew, can be found by going to www.WarrenMarcus.com/prayer. On his website, he also offers an amulet pendant of the prayer, a prayer print, a workbook and audio CD.
