Author's Latest Bible-Based Novel Reveals the Life of Noah

Raised in a Christian home, Brennan McPherson remembers lying in bed at 4-years-old thinking about what Christ did for him. At that moment, he gave his life to Jesus. From the time he was a little boy, he was always intrigued by the story of Noah and the Ark. “I’ve been fascinated by the story of Noah and the ark since I saw an old white bearded man stuck to a flannel graph above a square boat. Even when I was five, I saw past the cute giraffe head sticking out of the window and realized the story was serious stuff.” Brennan has always wanted to tell stories, but it wasn’t until his junior year in college that he gave writing a try. Three years later, he produced his first novel, Cain, a story which also fascinated him as a little boy. Now, at the age of 26, he has written his second novel, Flood, which is part of The Fall of Man (stand-alone) series.  Flood is based on the story of Noah and the worldwide flood that destroyed nearly all life on our planet.

Brennan believes that God gave us creative imaginary gifts for a reason and employs his imagination in helping readers understand what those living during Biblical times might have experienced. Brennan says, “Any novel based on such an ancient true story is necessarily speculative in nature. So, I decided to embrace a more fantastic interpretation to establish distance between the story and our preconceptions, which so often blinds us to the message behind the words.” Flood covers the time before Noah is born and follows him after the world is washed clean, telling the story of his family and forgiveness.

Brennan’s parents, Matt and Sherry McPherson, are the authors of the Salvation Poem which was written in 2004. Today, the Salvation Poem Foundation exists to teach the entire world a simple song of salvation, a 6-line song formatted as a vertical prayer towards God, asking for His forgiveness and saving grace:

Jesus, You died upon a cross
And rose again to save the lost
Forgive me now of all my sin
Come be my Savior, Lord, and Friend
Change my life and make it new
And help me, Lord, to live for You

The poem has been translated into more than 50 languages and is quickly becoming a universal tool for evangelism. As the vice president of the foundation, Brennan helps the foundation partner with ministries like CBN’s animated Bible series Superbook, the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, David C. Cook, Samitarian’s Purse, the Creative Museum, OneHope, The Pocket Testament League, and Prison Fellowship. Every episode of CBN’s Superbook concludes with an animated music video set to “The Salvation Poem,” sung by a young vocalist in the viewer’s native language. The poem has been heard or read by over 200 million people around the world. “Our hope is that the Salvation Poem will become imbedded into the world’s cultures as much as Mary Had a Little Lamb is imbedded into ours,” shares Brennan.
