Baby's Smile is a Miracle from Heaven

Four-month-old Seav Er was born with a cleft palate. It seemed like every time she tried to drink formula from a bottle she choked and started to cry.

“I remember when I first saw her,” recalled her mother Saban. “She was so small and very red, with a tube in her mouth. I fell on my knees and sobbed. I thought how could this happen. Why did this happen to my baby? Of course I was also afraid she would suffer abuse from others when she grew up.”

When Saban’s neighbors saw the baby, they had their own opinions about why it happened.

“My neighbor said, 'You must have gossiped too much in a previous life. It is Karma. You are getting what you deserve!'" recalled Saban.

We first met the family when Operation Blessing was delivering emergency food packs to help the family during a COVID shutdown in Cambodia. Later we arranged for Seav Er to travel the city where we provided a free operation to repair the baby’s cleft lip.

“I am so happy!” declared Saban. “Before the operation she choked on the milk, but now she is drinking a lot and gaining weight! Now the neighbors admire her and say she is so cute! They even invited us to visit their home!”

“Now I won’t have to worry about her mouth anymore,” she added.  “Thank you to the people who helped us!”
