Beautiful Seaside Jaffa Filled with Biblical History
Tel Aviv’s older sister, Jaffa, serves as a place for the beginning of many tours of Israel and the Bible. Jaffa is also the place where many countless historic events began, including: Jonah’s journey, Tabitha’s (Dorcas) restoration to life, and Peter’s conversion of Gentiles.
Quietly poised on the water in Kedumim Square, sits one of Jaffa’s main landmarks, the Church of St. Peter. Stand outside and be captivated by its beauty or sit inside and quietly reflect on the love that God has for you. Head outside toward the sea and be reminded of King Hiram of Tyre, who sent cedar logs for the Temple to Jaffa.
We will cut whatever timber you need from the Lebanon mountains and will float the logs in rafts down the coast of the Mediterranean Sea to Joppa. From there you can transport the logs up to Jerusalem.” ( NLT)
In the town of Jaffa, Peter had a vision on the rooftop of the House of Simon the Tanner. His vision took him to deep waters, where he was called to preach the Gospel to the gentiles in Caesarea.
In addition to Jaffa’s bountiful Biblical history, there are countless things to do in this charming city. Activities include charming lanes, antiquities, quiet churches, galleries, and a picturesque fishing port that is not to be missed. Even though Jaffa is teaming with lively activities, it is a great place to slow down, sit by the sea, take in God’s beauty and grow closer to Him.
