The FBI says that while ISIS is still successfully radicalizing people through online propaganda, the jihadist army is losing its appeal in America.

Speaking at a round-table discussion Wednesday, FBI Director James Comey said the number of people who are leaving the U.S to fight for the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria has drastically declined.

What was once 10 people leaving each month last year to fight for ISIS has gone down to only one person a month.

"The so-called Islamic State brand has lost significant power in the United States," Comey told reporters. "They've lost their ability to attract people to their caliphate from the United States."

Even so, the FBI still has a long way towards solving the problem of radicalization online.

"We have north of 1,000 cases where we're trying to evaluate where somebody is on the spectrum from consuming ISIS propaganda to acting. That number continues to pick up slowly," Comey said.

"ISIS' ability to motivate troubled souls, to inspire them, remains a persistent presence in the United States," Comey warned.
