IDF Foils Hamas Attempt to Abduct Troops, Civilians

ISRAELI GAZA BORDER -- Hamas terrorists infiltrated Israel Monday on their mission to kill and kidnap Israeli civilians and troops. At least 10 terrorists were killed in the attempt to cross into Israel using a vast network of tunnels along the Israel's border with the Gaza Strip.

The IDF released chilling footage of the Hamas terrorists who infiltrated Israel. This kind of Hamas operation presents a clear and present danger to Israelis along the border with Gaza.

The tunnels are designed to infiltrate communities close to the border. Gaza is about a mile away and some of these tunnels are more than a mile long and 60 feet deep with multiple exits. It proves Hamas has been planning this for a very long time.

"I can't imagine anything more terrifying than suddenly the earth opens up," Capt. (res.) Dan Gordon, a volunteer with Sar El, told CBN News.

"It's almost a scene out of a grade B zombie movie and the walking dead walk out, but they're not dead," he continued. "They're walking and they're armed with machine guns, anti-tank missiles, grenades and a few thousand rounds of ammunition, tranquilizers and handcuffs, and they're coming for you and they're coming for your children."

"That's what Israel faces right now," he said. "That's why we had to do the ground operation. There was absolutely no choice. What country in the world would allow its people to be in that kind of danger."

The first goal of Israel's ground incursion is to discover and destroy the elaborate maze of tunnels, as seen in IDF footage of soldiers uncovering a tunnel entrance inside a home and destroying it.

As Israel enters day 14 of Operation Protective Edge, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told the nation to expect an extended campaign to eliminate Hamas rocket fire from Gaza to uncover and destroy the smuggling tunnels.

Netanyahu said the military operation would continue as long as necessary to restore quiet and peace to Israel.

Meanwhile on Sunday, 13 IDF soldiers died in an attack on one Hamas stronghold in Shejaiya. More than 100 Palestinians were killed in the incident, both terrorists and civilians.

For three days, Israel warned residents by phone calls and leaflets to get out of harms' way, while the Hamas interior minister told them to stay there.

"Hamas is effectively conducting self-genocide," Israeli Economy Minister Naftali Bennett said. "They're placing their women and children around missile launchers, shooting rockets at Israel [and] waiting for us to retaliate in order for them to kill their own, and that's what's happening."

Former U.S. President Bill Clinton said using civilians as human shields is part of Hamas' strategy.

"They have a strategy designed to force Israel to kill their own civilians so the rest of the world will condemn them," he said.

While diplomatic efforts continue to try to arrange a ceasefire, Israel called up more troops in its efforts to eliminate the threat posed by Hamas to the Jewish state.
