JERUSALEM, Israel -- Earlier this week, Israeli airstrikes targeted two sites in Syria, one close to the Lebanese border, according to Arab media.

The IDF Spokesman's Office did not comment on either incident, saying Israel does not respond to foreign publications.

The Hezbollah-affiliated al-Mayadeen satellite television station said a drone struck a jeep traveling near Quneitra, just across the border on the Syrian side of the Golan Heights, killing five terrorists. Quneitra is Israel's sole border crossing with Syria.

The Syrian Center for Human Rights, affiliated with the Syrian opposition, said five terrorists, two members of Hezbollah and three with the Popular Committee were killed in the drone attack.

Some reports claimed Israel had targeted Samir Kuntar, a Lebanese terrorist released in 2008 to Hezbollah in exchange for the bodies of two IDF soldiers killed in the cross-border attack that sparked the 2006 Second Lebanon War. Kuntar was convicted in 1979 of killing a father after bludgeoning his 4-year-old daughter to death in front of him.

The second airstrike reportedly targeted a training camp near the Syrian-Lebanese border run by the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), reportedly injuring 6, according to Syrian media.
