JERUSALEM, Israel -- Six members of Israel's Bedouin community, four of them teachers in state schools, were indicted for membership in an ISIS-affiliated terror cell.

The Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency), working with a counterterrorism police unit from the Southern District, publicized details of the operation after the Beersheva Magistrates Court lifted a gag order.

According to the Shin Bet, the teachers were indoctrinating their students and other members of the community with ISIS ideology. Some were planning to join ISIS cells in Syria.

The court ordered all six to remain in police custody throughout the trial.

Israel's Education Ministry issued a statement welcoming the operation by police and the Shin Bet uncovering "hostile activities within the Israeli school system."

"The ministry will continue to work closely with law enforcement authorities to ensure the safety and security of all Israeli students," the ministry stated.

Education Minister Naftali Bennett revoked the four teachers' licenses, saying terrorists will not be teachers in Israeli schools.

"We have zero tolerance to those seeking to undermine the country," Bennett said. "We will not allow anyone to contaminate our children's minds."
