Republican Party Platform Most Pro-Israel Ever

JERUSALEM, Israel – In a tweet posted Wednesday, presumptive Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump called his party's 2016 platform "the most pro-Israel of all time."

The platform, approved by the committee Tuesday, makes no mention of a two-state solution, a position that resonated with Israeli political analyst Caroline Glick, who provides an in-depth look at a "one-state plan for peace" in her book, "The Israel Solution."

"Here is history being made," Glick posted Tuesday on Facebook. "The Republicans just abandoned their allegiance to the Palestinians and the establishment of a terror state in Israel's heartland. G-d bless America!"

Trump advisors Jason Dov Greenblatt and David Friedman thanked the platform committee for its "unequivocal support for Israel."

"It was with gratitude that we watched the Republican platform committee approve the Israel plank of the Republican platform expressing unequivocal support for Israel," they said in a joint statement on Facebook.

Instead of promoting a two-state solution, the platform states, "The U.S. seeks to assist in the establishment of a comprehensive and lasting peace in the Middle East to be negotiated among those living in the region."

"We oppose any measures intended to impose an agreement or to dictate borders or other terms and call for the immediate termination of all U.S. funding of any entity that attempts to do so," it affirms. "Our party is proud to stand with Israel now and always."

The RNC platform also echoes a frequent declaration by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, which Greenblatt and Friedman also mentioned in their statement.

"Support for Israel is support for America, so it is only right that the committee has made it clear that our government must advance policies that encourage and reflect our country's commitment to Israel, including the recognition that Jerusalem is the eternal, undivided capital of the Jewish people and the Jewish state of Israel," they said.

The platform further rejects "the false notion that Israel is an occupier."

Trump is set to announce his vice presidential running mate in New York on Friday, his campaign chairman Paul Manafort said yesterday.
