While genocide and Islamic persecution has left the number of Christians living in the Middle East at an all-time low, Israel stands as the only safe haven and beacon of hope. In fact, it is the only place in the Middle East where Christianity is on the rise.

Father Gabriel Naddaf is an Israeli and a Israeli Greek Orthodox priest. Naddaf spoke at the 11th annual Christians United for Israel conference in Washington D.C., this week and delivered a disturbing message.

He told the crowd that Christianity is dwindling in most of the Middle East today. Hundreds of thousands of Christians are being slaughtered or driven out of their homes in the wake of Muslim persecution.

Despite the bloodshed, Father Naddaf believes there is hope.

"Today, there is just one country in the Middle East where Christians live in peace and security," he said. "In Israel, they have freedom of speech and religion, they can exercise their faith freely, and they have democratic rights."

Although Father Naddaf is an Israeli Arab, he loves Israel and he says many other Christian Arabs feel the same. He knows that the same terrorists who are hunting down and murdering Christians, also want to see the destruction of the Jewish state.

Father Naddaf fights back by actively working to enlist Israeli Arabs in the IDF. Now, more than one hundred Arabs from his hometown in Nazareth have committed to giving their lives to protect the only Middle Eastern country that protects their right to believe in Christ.

"Israel is something we need to protect," Naddaf said in his speech. "We need to protect its freedom, we have to protect the cradle of Christianity."

Father Naddaf faces backlash for his love of Israel and has even faced threats to his family's life. Regardless, he is committed to protecting the Jewish state one soldier at a time.
