Trump '100%' Agrees With Keeping Some US Troops in Syria

Just two months after President Donald Trump ordered the full withdrawal of US troops from Syria, the president told lawmakers Tuesday he "100%" agrees with keeping some US forces in the war-torn country.

Democrat and Republican lawmakers wrote a letter to Trump on Feb. 22 praising him for his decision to keep a small force of about 200 US soldiers in Syria.

NBC News obtained a copy of the letter. Trump reportedly highlighted a paragraph in the letter about US involvement in Syria, which said, “Like you, we seek to ensure that all of the gains made in Syria are not lost, that ISIS never returns, that Iran is not emboldened, and that we consolidate our gains and ensure the best outcome in Geneva for American interests."

Trump responded by writing "I agree 100%. ALL is being done" directly on the letter and signing it.

The Islamic state is fighting hard to keep its last remaining enclave in the village of Baghouz.

CNN  reported Tuesday that some 500 ISIS terrorists surrendered to US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces.

The fighters were among a wave of people fleeing the ISIS stronghold. Thousands have escaped Baghouz in recent weeks after being warned by militants they would be killed if they tried to leave.

SDF spokesman Mustafa Bali said on Twitter that 3,500 people were evacuated from the enclave on Tuesday alone.

The evacuees are processed by Syrian Democratic Forces before being sent to refugee camps miles away.

There to help are a group of Christians called the Free Burma Rangers.

Founder Dave Eubank sent this report to CBN News from the frontlines during that last few days of the last battle of the ISIS caliphate:  "Here hard core ISIS were fighting in buildings and tunnels surrounded by a mass of tents and trucks that fleeing ISIS families brought here, to this the bitter physical end of the caliphate.  We see children walking around in in the tent area in a daze midst the explosions and bullets.  Over 16,000 have fled thru us in past 30 days and it looks like over 1,000, maybe many more women and children are left in this pocket up against the Euphrates river. The SDF offer a way out and surrender for the families and tonight March 3rd, it looks like most the last families will be able to leave.  It is not yet clear what the remaining ISIS fighters will do. Please pray this ends and that many children are saved."
