A Time to Pray: 2 US Soldiers Killed in Insider Attack in Afghanistan
The Pentagon is identifying the two US Army soldiers who were killed in Afghanistan this week in a "green on blue" incident when they were shot by an Afghan Army soldier.
Private First Class Brandon Jay Kreischer of Stryker, Ohio was 20-years-old. The other American was Army specialist Michael Isaiah Nance of Chicago who was 24.
The two soldiers died Monday in an insider attack in Tarin Kowt, in southern Afghanistan. The incident is still under investigation.
Both soldiers belonged to the Army's 82nd Airborne Division, based in Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
The 82nd Airborne Division posted a brief statement saying, "We are saddened to announce the death of SPC Michael Nance and PFC Brandon Kreischer of @PantherBrigade. They were both killed in Afghanistan on July 29, 2019. The bond between All American Paratroopers is eternal, and we will forever remember our brave Fallen Paratroopers."
Evangelist Franklin Graham is calling on American Christians to be in prayer for the grieving families.
"Will you join me in praying for the families of two U.S. military service members who were killed in Afghanistan on Monday? Col. Arthur Sellers, Commander of the 3rd Brigade Combat Team said, 'These young men were true All Americans and embodied the qualities of selfless service and courage as they answered our nation's call to deploy to Afghanistan.' These young men gave the ultimate sacrifice protecting our freedom," Graham posted on Facebook.
