Terrorist Dad Supports Clinton, Trump 2nd Amendment Remark Draws Fire

Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump are both facing some new campaign controversies with violent undertones.

Clinton is under fire after the father of Omar Mateen, the man who massacred 49 people at a gay nightclub in Florida, was spotted standing behind Clinton on stage at her campaign rally this week near Orlando.

The campaign says Seddique Mateen wasn't invited and that Clinton "disavows" any support from the father of the Orlando terrorist.

Meanwhile, Donald Trump is under attack for a comment he made while defending gun rights.

"Hillary wants to abolish - essentially abolish - the Second Amendment. By the way, if she gets to pick...if she gets to pick her judges, nothing you could do, folks. Although the Second Amendment people, maybe there is, I don't know," Trump said.

Critics say Trump was calling for violence with that comment.

But the Trump camp says he was referring to the powerful political clout of people and groups who support the right to own guns.

"Give me a break," Trump said hours later, insisting was referring to the power that voters hold. He told Fox News that "there can be no other interpretation."

Trump insists he never advocated violence against Clinton, and he and his supporters are blaming media bias for the flap.

"They will buy any line, any distortion, and spin that the Clintons put out," said former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, an ardent Trump supporter.
